IMPROVING THE COMMUNICATION ABILITY OF AUTOMOTIVE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS THROUGH THE STUDENT TEAMS-ACHIEVEMENT DIVISIONS (STAD) COOPERATIVE LEARNING MODEL

AbstractDuring the teaching and learning process, many of the students lacked communication skills so that the mastery of the material either in groups or individually that had been given by the teacher was not optimal and the nature of cooperation in group learning was not achieved. Because learning has not provided opportunities for students to develop independently through discovery and thinking processes in solving problems.The purpose of the following article research is to find out the improvement of comunication skills in vacational school students by aplying Cooperative Students Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) learning models. The method used in the preparation of this article study by collecting books, research journal, related web article to be studied, after all the data has been collected, testing and comparison of the data found is carried out, then all the data that has collected is analyzed to find out the improvement of communication skills in vacational high school students. From the result of the literature studies it was found there was an incrase in comunication skills in vactional high school students by applying Cooperative Students Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) learning models by looking at several aspects, namely: (1) Opennes (2) Emphaty (3) Supportivenes (4) Positive Attitude. Because in the Cooperative Students Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) learning models when the process of delivering information requires students to communicate (observe, asking questions, collecting information, analyze, and communicating) with their friends during teaching and learnig activites.
